I’ve added the songs that we’re learning for the singing day in February to the new song page, please have a look and see if you can remember the words and tune!
The new Aztecs page.. i’ll be filling it up with Aztec things as we go along
Well done to our class for winning the sports trophy this week! Such fantastic sportsmen and women

…but that doesn’t mean we’ve not been busy!! Our class is currently working hard on our maths targets, writing extended stories, learning about sources and uses of lights, practising our gymnastic abilities and if that wasn’t enough we’ve been singing and also writing in Spanish!
We’ve linked with a school in Mexico and we’re very excited to open up lines of communication and I think i’ll be the one running to my pigeon hole very two minutes to see if they send us letters back in the next couple of months! I have to boast that the class is speaking Spanish fantastically, their accents are fab, well done to Miss Wakefield for lighting a spark in the children (our wonderful music and Spanish teacher) and i’m glad i’m having the opportunity to keep it going with my own knowledge of the language…I may have to just teach in Spanish for a whole day just for fun!
Anyway there are more videos for me to put on here so keep your peepers open and on the blog in the weeks to come and i’ll try and edit them soon and put them on
This term we’re going to be basing a lot of our work around our geography topic of Mexico. We’ll be learning about how you can travel there, what it’s like to go school, everyday life and a bunch of other interesting things. We’ll also be learning lots of Spanish words and phrases to go along with the topic too. Our Science subject is light and dark and in Religious Education you shall be learning about Christianity with Mrs Abbas. We’ve already started delving into the literary world of Oliver Jeffers books and we shall continue to look at this for another week. After that our literacy will combine with our geography topic and so you’ll be writing reports and also studying Mexican traditional tales.
Remember that PE is on Wednesday and Friday and you must have your kit! Spellings will be given out at the beginning of the week and you’ll be tested on Friday mornings as normal, Homework will be given out on Friday and you need to have it in by the following Wednesday please.

Here are a few websites you may enjoy visiting:
This one will help you remember what we did in Phonics last half term (phase 5), including the great buried treasure game!

This is a great site for our number work:

In literacy we’re going to start off by looking at a great story by the author Oliver Jeffers – he’s one of my favourite children’s authors and you might remember me reading ‘The Incredible Book Eating Boy’ to you
So why not see if you can find any information out about him.
Perhaps you can build a snowman and measure how tall he is in whatever you can find!
Mrs S
Well it certainly has snowed over the last couple of days, more than i’ve seen in a long time and I hope you’ve been taking full advantage of it! Making snowmen, snow angels and generally playing in the white stuff is definitely fun and something you’ll remember for years to come. All over the city centre people were building snow sculptures, I spotted 3 snowmen and one snow poodle dog in the part of the city called Spinningfields!
As it gets colder please take care to wrap up warm and wear sensible shoes or wellies as the paths are very slippery and falling on ice hurts!
I don’t know about you but i’ve definitely enjoyed the holiday, especially all the snow! If you’ve been doing anything interesting just let me know…
