We’ve been putting the world to rights alot recently, talking about what we’d change to make the world a better place. Today we’ve been discussing peace for peace week and how it’s easy to find peace when you are on your own but not so much when there’s a big mix of people around. We came up with different ways of making the playground a better place to be eg. if we see anyone alone ask them if they want to play, sharing a smile with others..etc..
So where does origami come into this? Well you need to be in a peaceful frame of mind to have a go at this excellent paper art, and of course the white bird represents peace too. So with a bit of patience and a lot of skill we’ve made beautiful origami birds on which we’ve written on our messages for peace in the mix…they’re hanging outside our classroom if you fancy a look!
Oh and for all of you who enjoyed making them here’s a great link to an origami website:
Last week we had a great whole school singing day as we took part in the national sing up day celebrations. Not only did we sing in assembly we also got to sing as a class infront of other classes. 2S were fantastic and I was very proud!
Don’t forget that tomorrow it’s world book day so dress up as a favourite character or in your pajamas! (It’s rather cold at the minute so I suggest if you choose Pajamas to wear something warm underneath or something you can change into for play and lunchtime. Also remember your 50p to raise some money for new books and watch a star filled pantomime!
Book week is nearly upon us and Mrs Smith has asked me to post and remind you about all the wonderful things happening! We’ll be creating our bookmarks for the competition, choosing what outfit to wear as well dress up as our favourite characters (don’t forget your donation!). We also need your food hamper donations, remember it can’t be stuff that’ll go a bit soft and squishy after a few days – like veggies or fruit, and finally remember if you want to be part of the raffle for those different hampers then you have to tear off the strip of raffle tickets, put your name on the back (or your parents’ names) and pay £1 at the office.
I’ve been really excited planning this half term’s work. We’ve got an awful lot to fit in 5 weeks! Not only do we have our normal lessons we have book week to think of as well as the sing up day
This half term we’ll be studying traditional stories, looking at time and timestables, designing puppets, learning about Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, slavery and civil liberty, as well as our usual favourites such as music, spanish, ict and PE.
I can’t wait to get stuck into this half term, hope you feel the same!
As we’re approaching the half term holiday i’ve been looking back on what we’ve been up to and my goodness we’ve been busy!
Here are a few photos i’ve been meaning to post up for a week or two.
We had been measuring mass, first comparing weights saying which is heavier and lighter, which items were equal to and then we progressed onto weighing using kilograms and grams.
In our literacy this week and in the coming weeks we’ve started to look at explaination texts, in particular the topic of dinosaurs. We’ve come up with lots of questions that we want answered and here are a few websites to start us off on the road to finding them out!

We’ve been having some fun this week trying to pronounce some of the Aztec god names as well as other things! Luckily I came across this website and it’s a massive help!
I’ve added the songs that we’re learning for the singing day in February to the new song page, please have a look and see if you can remember the words and tune!
The new Aztecs page.. i’ll be filling it up with Aztec things as we go along
